Start sporting career
She took up gymnastics at age five, and began trampolining at age 12.
Reason for taking up the sport
She first did acrobatic gymnastics and would watch the trampoline training going on at the same time. "I was amazed by the kids who were jumping on the trampolines. At acrobatics, the part I liked the most was doing the big somersaults. To learn how to do them, we first trained them on the trampoline instead of jumping off our acrobatic partners. That's where the love for trampoline started."
Trainings
She combines her training with her work as a doctor. "When I finish my work, I go to my training sessions. It's like that every day."

Additional information
DOCTOR
She is a doctor, a career with parallels to her sport. "My medical career was not an immediate choice. It was not a childhood dream of mine. It came naturally with doing more sport and a curiosity to know more about the human body." Juggling her work and training can be difficult and she took two months off to completely focus on training ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "I felt that I was near physical and psychological exhaustion and to do everything would be too much." (olympicchannel.com, 01 Nov 2017)
NATIONAL FIRST
She was the first Portuguese female trampoline gymnast to qualify for the Olympic Games when she did so in 2008. (p3.publico.pt, 03 Mar 2012)
