LONDON 2012 DISAPPOINTMENT
He missed out on selection for the 2012 Olympic Games in London, despite having been part of the team that helped Great Britain qualify a full team for the Games. "To just miss out [on Olympic selection] sucked all the life and energy out of me. At the [2012] British championships I got two golds and three bronzes, I got two silvers at grand prix that year, and personally I thought that would have been enough to make the team, but obviously in other people's eyes it wasn't." (bbc.co.uk, 28 Mar 2014; bbc.co.uk, 04 Jul 2012)
CONSIDERED QUITTING THE SPORT
The injury he sustained at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, VIC, Australia, continued to trouble him for the following year, and even made him consider giving up artistic gymnastics. "I seriously considered quitting. After eight weeks of complete rest it was purely my love of the sport that made me return. It was very slow at first and I wasn't convinced I would ever return to my previous level, but I kept improving slowly." (danielkeatings.co.uk, 31 Jul 2009)
