Additional information
General
RETIREMENT AND RETURN
She decided to retire from gymnastics in February 2019 after she ruptured her Achilles tendon while competing in her final season with the University of California Berkeley. "I was definitely going to retire. I called my family and told them that I was finished. I was going to retire because I felt like I couldn't take any more heartbreak from gymnastics and injuries." However, she returned to the sport six months later, after recovering from the injury. (jamaica-gleaner.com, 31 Jul 2019)

SUPPORT
She has suffered several injuries in her career. She knew the recovery would be difficult when she ruptured her Achilles tendon in February 2019. "I had previously torn my other Achilles two years ago, so I knew how hard the recovery was. [It took] me a full year to recover, but with this Achilles, I felt stronger and rehab was progressing faster." She said the support she received from those close to her has made all the difference and helped her recover. "The people around me helped me to get through this experience. My parents, siblings, my coach, my best friends and teammates from college have all helped me to find the strength to keep going." (jamaica-gleaner.com, 31 Jul 2019)

REPRESENTING JAMAICA
Born in Baltimore, MD, United States of America, she is eligible to represent Jamaica through her parents. She made the decision that she would compete for Jamaica at age 15.
