Injuries
He tore ligaments in the middle finger of his left hand right before the 2015 World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. The injury ruled him out of the all-around competition at the event. (spox.com, 14 Oct 2015)

NAMED ELEMENT
In August 2016 the International Gymnastics Federation [FIG] announced that an element on the parallel bars had been named after him in the FIG Official Code of Points. The move [The Nguyen] is executed by a free hip circle mount from the side of the bars with three quarter turn to handstand position.
