Bursitis in his right shoulder prevented him from competing at the 2021 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil. He was part of the Brazilian national team that went to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but he had to undergo surgery on the problem in November 2021. He returned to competition in May 2022.
